How does it work?

The Nordlys Candela system is based on two complementary technologies: selective light band (SWT/IPL) and non-ablative fractional laser (Frax), which target different layers of the skin during a single session. The IPL 530 and 555 handpieces emit precisely filtered light beams that are absorbed by hemoglobin in blood vessels and melanin in pigmented lesions, leading to their thermal destruction and removal from the body.Injection lipolysis is a completely safe procedure performed by a cosmetologist and does not require any special preparations from the patient. This procedure can be used to remove, among other things, the second chin or fat accumulated on the thighs, buttocks or in the armpit area.

At the same time, the 1550 and 1940 fractional heads create thousands of microscopic, controlled columns of thermal damage in the skin without breaking the continuity of the epidermis: the 1550 model works deeply, remodeling collagen and thickening the skin’s structure, while the 1940 model works more superficially, smoothing the texture and removing surface imperfections.

Frequently asked questions

Is the procedure painful, and does it require anesthesia?

When using IPL heads (530/555), you will only feel a brief burning sensation or a “snap” like a rubber band. In the case of fractional heads (1550/1940), due to the heat generated and the depth of action, an anesthetic cream is typically applied 30–45 minutes before the procedure, making it well-tolerated.

How long will I look “bad” after the procedure (recovery)?

Nordlys uses non-ablative technologies, which means the epidermis remains intact. Immediately after the session, there is swelling and redness resembling a severe sunburn, which usually disappears within 24–48 hours. Discoloration may temporarily darken and peel slightly after a few days, but you can apply makeup and return to work the very next day.

How many treatments are needed?

Improvements in skin tone (such as the closure of broken capillaries and the removal of spots) are often visible after just one treatment. However, to achieve full skin rejuvenation, thickening of the skin structure, and reduction of scars using Frax heads, a series of 3 to 4 treatments at 4–6-week intervals is recommended. The final lifting effect continues to improve over the next 3 months after the series is completed.

Can the Nordlys treatment be performed at any time of year?

It is safest to undergo the treatment during the fall and winter months and in early spring, when sun exposure is at its lowest. Since IPL and laser heads react to melanin, the skin must not be tanned before the treatment (a minimum 4-week break is required), and after the treatment, strict protection with SPF 50+ sunscreen is necessary to prevent new discoloration.
